Nearly 20 years of Animation
AJ has jumped in and out of final VFX, cinematic and in game animation, switching up usually for tools/tech anim related roles, or virtual production roles (which is basically real-time game anim for use in film production). He has managed and led teams of junior to senior level artists in lead roles, and happily set keys to get the motion in senior roles.
He has been on-set VFX supervisor (short film contract “Goliath”), real-time CG supervisor (Spongebob “Go Fetch!”), and actively animates daily on his own personal projects.
Passionate about Unreal Engine and Game Development
AJ studied animation art and design in college (2001-2005) specifically to make games. He began professionally in games in 2007 and moved to film and VFX in 2009, but the spark never died and he jumped on any and all game projects that came his way. He has been solo developing in his free time and taught game development at Epic Games during the 2025 fellowship for game dev.
Virtual Production experience on several major films and games
AJ joined the virtual production team at Digital Domain in 2014 for Jon Favreau’s “The Jungle Book”. He continued at DD for “The Mummy” in Los Angeles and Steven Spielberg’s “Ready Player One” in the UK, until moving to MPC to once again work with Jon Favreau on “The Lion King”. He was later promoted to Lead Animator for final at MPC, but pokes his head into Virtual Production pipelines such as the mocap stages at Sony (SIE) Playstation for basically every PS5 game using mocap from 2021 to 2024, and Sony (SPE) Torchlight for film and R&D.
